Garrick Schmitt, Vice President User Experience, San Francisco
Over the past eight years at Avenue A | Razorfish, Garrick Schmitt has helped a range of Fortune 500 clients and industry leaders envision and deliver breakthrough customer experiences across multiple platforms. Most recently, he has focused on emerging media, broadcast, publishing and eCommerce. In addition, he leads an in-house innovation team that is focused on next-generation consumer applications and technologies — including social media, viral messaging, mobile applications, interactive advertising and IPTV. Prior to joining Avenue A | Razorfish, Garrick developed localized broadband content at Cox Interactive Media for Excite @Home and Looksmart and worked on early search and directory services for CNET’s Search.com and Snap.com, a media portal that later became NBCi.
Joseph Crump, Executive Creative Director, New York
Joe has 25 years experience as an award-winning creative leader. He directs all creative operations in the Northeast for Avenue A | Razorfish, the world’s largest digital design firm. His current clients range from NBC, Fox, CNN, and L’Oreal, to Condé Nast, The New York Times, Balenciaga, Pangea Day, Ford, the TED Conference, and Polo. Joe is considered a “design investigator,” because he combines his academic training as a cultural anthropologist with more than a decade as an investigative journalist. He uses the methods of the social sciences to discover unmet human needs, and the tools of the storyteller to speak to those needs through innovations in products and brand experiences. Prior to joining Avenue A | Razorfish, Joe was a principal at Doblin Group, a celebrated think tank + design firm with roots that stretch to the origins of the Bauhaus. Doblin Group is regarded as a pioneer in the art and science of user-centered innovation.
Dawa Riley, Information Architect, New York
A graduate of the M.A. in Design for Interactive Media program at Middlesex University, London, Dawa has had over 8 years experience working with internet technologies in design, development and information architecture roles. Prior to joining us, she worked for various start-ups in the Bay Area and digital agencies such as Digitas Modem Media as well as being a newsreader on a technology radio talk show. Since joining Avenue A Razorfish, Dawa has worked on various client projects including Microsoft, Capital One, Disney, Hands-On Mobile, Maybelline and Flip.com. She enjoys the challenge that working with new technologies and innovation brings yet remains a tireless user advocate and always remembers to put users’ needs first.
Marisa Gallagher, Director of User Experience, San Francisco
As Director of User Experience at Avenue A | Razorfish, Marisa manages a team of Information Architects, Content Strategists, Interaction Designers, and User Researchers based in our San Francisco. Her expertise in user-centered design methodology and communications, metadata, and editorial strategy has helped clients like Disney, Singapore Airlines, Sun Microsystems, Cisco, Genentech, McKesson, Napster, Nasa, Visa, VeriSign, and Ancestry.com use the digital channel to satisfy customers and achieve powerful returns. Prior to her time at AA/RF, Marisa worked for CNET Networks in product development, LookSmart in editorially driven search, and WVFI, a college radio station, in station and production management.
Mia Northrop, Senior Information Architect, New York
Mia has over 10 years experience marketing and developing products and experiences for online businesses. She applies her passion for finding the sweet spot between user-centered design principles and business objectives to clients as diverse as Ford, Merrill Lynch and XM Satellite Radio. Prior to joining Avenue A Razorfish, Mia worked for a who’s who of Australian internet companies including Fairfax Digital, Sensis, CitySearch Australia and SEEK. Her research interests include how visceral video game designs can translate to web experiences, and how game design methodologies can inform other digital design processes.
Kyle Outlaw, Senior Information Architect, New York
Kyle Outlaw is a Senior Information Architect at Avenue A| Razorfish in New York. His expertise lies in the design of rich internet applications for the world wide web and the emerging mobile internet. He also leads the Avenue A | Razorfish Mobile Affinity Group. Kyle is a graduate of NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program.
Bethany Fenton, Director of User Experience/Creative Director, Chicago
Bethany plays a dual role within Avenue A | Razorfish. She leads the User Experience Group in the Chicago office of Avenue A | Razorfish that includes Experience Strategy, Interaction Design and User Research. She is also a Creative Director. Prior to Avenue A | Razorfish, Bethany worked with Fry, Inc. where she led the conception, design and execution of the Crate and Barrel online store and online Gift Registry. Bethany has also led or participated in the design of websites for Frontgate, Estee Lauder, Brookstone, Godiva, Spiegel and Eddie Bauer.
Jason Levin, User Experience Lead, Boston
Jason Levin is a User Experience Lead in the Boston office. For the past ten years, he has helped align business goals and user needs to create compelling, innovative online experiences. He has recently created sites for Ford, Boston Scientific, Time Warner and the New England Journal of Medicine.
